SHADOW FIGHTERS
2015 • SHORT DOCUMENTARY • 28 MIN.
Albinos in Tanzania don’t only fear the strong sun that can give them skin cancer, but also society’s superstition towards albinos being seen as ghosts more than human beings. Despite the general prejudices from society, there are albinos that fight to change society’s view – including teacher, Mashaka in Mwanza and 11 year old, Abdul outside the capital, Dar Es Salaam. They fight to be seen as human beings in their everyday life by being a skilled teacher, an ambitious student, a good father and a good friend. However, it isn’t always easy, when you get yelled at on the streets – Kung Fu can be necessary to learn which Abdul is particularly fond of.
